Drugs are Bad, Mkay?

While searching YouTube for some entertainment, I stumbled upon these PSA gems from the 80s. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did ;)

I know a different version of this song...

Didn't he end up using this stuff?

"GET OUTA THERE!"

A Little off topic of drugs, but too good not to post.

This is just part of the 27minute video. You're not missing out on a whole lot from the rest of the moive...yes, I watched the whole thing.

Why don't they have commercials like this out now?! These are some wise words by some wise people

King Edward VI

Let me start by saying that when I went to title this post, "King Edward VI" auto populated the "Title" box as soon as I clicked in it. It was too good not to keep. So, with that in mind, if you began reading this post in the hopes to learn all about King Edward, and all of the surely awesome things he did, you are going to be sorely disappointed. I know absolutely nothing about him, and in turn, will teach you as much. I'm pretty awesome too, though, so you should probably keep reading :)

Ok, enough about Eddy, back to me. This last month has been ridiculous, and I mean that in a good way. My birthday is October 25th. Happy birthday, you say? Oh, thank you. For as long as I can remember, my birthday was celebrated for much longer than just the day of. I think at first it was a weekend, then the week of, and now I don’t have a birthday, I have a birth month. This year, it was celebrated every weekend in October. Let's start from the beginning, shall we? It always seems like such a good place to start...

Celebration Numero Uno: My best friend, Kaireesa, works ALL the time, so we were a bit worried about being able to celebrate my birthday together (did I mention she also lives an hour and a half away?). The first weekend in October, we planned to go to a Pirate themed weekend at a Renaissance Fair. I'm a nerd. For me, Little Mermaid, Batman, and Pirates pretty much spell the word amazing. The fact that we were going to "Yarg" and "Arg" all day, sounded fantastic. So, we dressed up, and drove the 3 hours to Hollister. Neither of us ate before we left, in anxious anticipation of all of the mouth watering food that was surely awaiting our arrival at the fair. We hopped in the car, made a sign to show to passing cars (yup, we're those people) and started our adventure.

Our sign. Fun Fact: I (safely of course) drew the skull WHILE driving. Safety First!

As time wore on, we realized that we were starving. We also realized that we were lost. That's when my boss texted me asking if we were there yet.
"No...not yet. We got lost and took the wrong off ramp."
"Well, which way did you go?"
"Through Berkeley...that's the way my GPS sent us..."
Her response? "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Sorry, I don’t mean to laugh!"
I was starving, I couldn't breathe properly, due to the tightly synched corset I was driving in, and I was lost. Apparently, I had forgotten to take my GPS off "Maze" and it was taking us the longest route possible. Her cackle was echoing in my ears.

In the end, we made it to the fair in 3.5 hours, and were asked to pose in photos as soon as we arrived, and when we were leaving, the owner of a booth asked us to pose in front of his sign. We left feeling pretty fantastic.

Drinking Raspberry Ale. AMAZING. Also, the red feather is supposed to be "lucky"
and was given to us by a man in a wand booth. So far, it seems to be working :)
Birthday Numero B: Kaireesa and I had been talking about getting matching tattoos for at least a year. Different thoughts had filtered through our thought process, but we had never actually sat down and discussed it. It had always been brought up in passing..until one day Kaireesa seemed to be talking about it nonstop. She would send me pictures all day, ask my opinion, ask where I was thinking of getting mine yada yada. She had also told me she had a surprise for me that Saturday for my birthday. My mind immediately jumped to the hopes that she was taking me to get our tattoos.

We decided we wanted to get hearts on our wrists. I knew I wanted two, one to represent each of us, and I wanted them interlocked to represent that we would always be connected. Kaireesa wanted hers down the outside of her wrist, and wasn’t sure that she wanted them interlocked. The discussions continued with a slight feeling of urgency, and I tried my hardest not to get my hopes up that shiny new matching tattoos were in my near future.

"I'm SURE you've figured out that we're getting our tattoos today," She said almost as soon as I walked into her apartment Saturday morning. I'm pretty sure I replied with a shrill shriek, and a jump while clapping my hands. What can I say, I know how to keep it cool. We drove to the tattoo shop, all the while still unsure of exactly what it was we were going to get. We walked into the shop. I handed over the image of two interlocked hearts I had drawn to the artist, while Kaireesa anxiously flipped through photos to try and decide on which she wanted. I hopped into the chair, and plopped my arm down, palm up, onto it's arm rest. The machine was turned on. The ink well was set up. I bit my lip in anticipation of the excruciating pain I was about to endure. I grabbed Kaireesa's hand, and the artist came at me with the machine.

BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

"Oh..." I looked at Kaireesa.
"Does it hurt?!" She asked, fully aware that whether I told her it felt like my arm was being sawed off or not, she was next.
It didn't hurt at all..Well, for me anyway...

After seeing mine, Kaireesa decided she wanted her's to match mine exactly.
We're in it for the long haul now, lady bug..

Once we were all done, we looked at each other, and slightly worried, and extremely excited, Kaireesa  said," Omg, Em. We officially have visible tattoos now.." I just grinned. I have lovingly dubbed the hearts our "lesbian brands."  Who need's diamond rings when you're branded, right? Although we have the rings too...

Birthday Number III: A few years ago, I convinced my three best girlfriends to go to a haunted house with me. We planned everything out. The fab 4 (yes, we are also those people) would meet up at the house, then grab dinner after. I read up about the story that was created about the house. The theme was that this demented little boy would kill things, then dissect them, then keep pieces of them all over his room. It started with small animals, then worked up to performing "experimental surgeries" on people in the house. Once a year, he opened up his house to allow people to come and see the work he had done.

The end result was me clutching onto two of the girls, leaving terror inflicted bloody claw marks on their arms, hyperventilating, and almost passing out. The haunted house is now an annual event, however, I am asked to sit and wait in the car.

The fab 4 before they went into the haunted house, and I played watch dog over the girls purses,
and listened to their screams from the safety of the car.

B-Day 4: My last few birthdays have not been so fantastic. This year, I was determined to make up for the past. I decided I wanted to have a birthday costume party the weekend before Halloween, as my birthday fell on the following Tuesday. I chose to have it at a local bar, thinking all of the alcohol would be available, a DJ would be provided, and I wouldn’t have to deal with any kind of clean up. You're impressed by my cleverness, I can tell ;)
the dressed up part of the party goers

The night went FANTASTIC. A decent amount of my party attendee's dressed up in costume, we drank, we danced, and genuinely had a fabulous time. At one point, the DJ, hearing it was my birthday, came out onto the dance floor, grabbed my hand, and put me up on top of a speaker making me the me go-go dancer for the entire bar. At the end of the night, when the bar closed, my group, as well as everyone else in the bar, went outside to wait for rides home. While everyone was clustered in front of the bar, two of my friends came up behind me and lifted me up onto their shoulders like I was Rocky. Everyone in my group then erupted into "Happy Birthday," and because this is a small town, I knew most of the other stander bys, and because it was such a spectacle, EVERYONE else in front of the bar joined in. Most amazing Happy Birthday I've ever had sung to me.
This is the Rocky Lift. As you can see, my friend Ryan was much taller than Chad (the guy to the far left)
and ended up with me entirely on his shoulder. As you can see, I was a happy kid.
B.D. V: The night before my actual birthday, I went to my friend Craig's house to hang out with him, and say hi to a band he manages. When midnight rolled around, and the band discovered it was my birthday, we decided it would be fun to shoot off fireworks.
The two we launched off :)
Craig is a professional photographer, and lives in his studio in an office complex. We ventured down the road a bit and lit off the fireworks. Almost immediately after we shot off the first one, a terrified cleaning crew popped out of one of the office buildings. Between the gun shot noise, and KC (one of the band mates) screaming "GET ON THE GROUND," the crew was in shock, and we were in hysterics.

The next day, I was treated to a delicious breakfast, and shown the neighborhood of an artist who makes sculptures out of random objects. All around, it was a great day.

BATMAN! This was one of the sculpture in the neighborhood of the artist.

My birthday present from Craig. Crazy Famous. Kick ass band :)

Birthday Number 6 and G: The Saturday before Halloween, Craig took a job at a club to get Kaireesa and me into a club for free. They were having a Halloween party, and Kaireesa and I wanted to show off our costumes, and dance. She had been working on her Tron costume for well over a month, and it looked AMAZING. I was a cat on its 9th life, and finished sewing it the night before. We were excited.
Yes, she MADE this.

The following Monday, Halloween, we all dressed up again, and went to Kaireesa's favorite bar, where Crazy Famous was playing. We rocked out to their glorious melodies (seriously, check them out, they are really good) danced, met some people in some crazy awesome costumes, and had a grand ol time.

The Count! His girl was big bird. They were adorable :)

Who doesn't love a gian sock monkey?

Basically, for trying to make this month-o-birthdays compensate for the last couple, it TOTALLY dominated the leader board. 24 will have a hard time topping 23.
